I have a ST60 tri display in the cockpit, currently it is hooked up to an Airmar P79 transducer. Purchased the boat at end of season and it worked intemittently but I never fully tested it.. It seems to show some sort of depth. It was poorly mounted so that could be the fault.

Despite that I also have a hole in the bottom of the boat where I removed an old through hull transducer. Was considering putting a P19 though hull in its place and using this instead of the possibly faulty P79. Internet says it is compatable. Can I just cut the wires from the P79 and by magic the colors of the wires match the P19?

Also, the hole is at the bottom of the hull as it starts to rise up to the bow (see pic) what tilt is best?

Thanks!

If you have a suspect transducer and want to fit a new one, i'd use the supplied wiring, use the old as a pull through.

You can measure the deadrise yourself, rather than people on here guessing.

Airmar have lots of information on their site.
Go to Airmar and on page 49 you will find a P19 with a column for wiring information. Do the same for P79 on page 59 and you can then sort out the wiring. There are several diagrams for each transducer depending on the end user type of plug.

I wish all manufacturers were so generous with their technical information.
