The Fresh water tank in my Benne expired last season. The tank is a purpose built moulded Polyethelene tank fitted under the double aft quarter berth. It was almost triangular in plan, and tapered in 2 planes and curved all at the same time ..... pretty complex.
It's no good trying to order a replacement, for one thing i doubt that Benne would have a specific tank 28 years on, it would cost a fortune and last of all no amount of shenanigins would get it out of the aft cabin and on deck, I had to cut it up in the cabin to get it out.
We have 200l under the forepeak berth and I have temporarily fitted about 100l of flexible tank but 300l is not enough to prevent having to visit marinas or lug water about in jerry cans in Greece in Summer.
Suggestions for replacing water capacity .... ( about 200l space if used properly )
1 - get a couple of smaller flexible tanks, pipe 'em all together to better use the space.
2 - mould in a glass tank ( yeuch ! and hard work )
3 - The space is big enough for a watermaker! ( Cost! )
4 - any other fancy ideas?
