Our little alarm was fine until the exhaust elbow above the sensor decided to leak and shorted it out causing some alarm to the crew as it happened (as usual) at the wrong time.
The leak is now resolved but the alarm will not work ( or, rather, will not stop working !!)
It is one of those where the detector just straps onto the raw water pipe and I wonder if we can just get a new sensor or if we have to replace it all ( suggestions welcome please)
I was able to fit a raw water gauge and this seems to work well reading around 70 degrees at cruising revs. In some ways the gauge is better than the alarm as you can keep an eye on
the temp at all times. Having an actual alarm, though, does have the advantage of waking up the helmsperson and would be nice. I believe that I could just add a small alarm ( and possibly a flashing red light) to my gauge? next time i'm on board I will photo the back of the gauge in case one of you experts can tell me how to wire it.
Any general advice welcome.
