Repairs in Lefkas

I am trying to get some repairs done in Lefkas/Preveza and have been let down in the past by Preveza Yacht Services and Joe Charlton.

I am thinking of trying Ionian Boat Assistance, has anyone had experience of them?

I have not needed them for any servicing repairs etc, however the boat breakdown service they offer, from my hearsay and friends who have used them , has been exellent. I used them a few years ago in an emergency situation (they were reccomended by a forumite) I needed to get my wife back from Rio hospital Patras, there was a week long ferry strike in the winter. My wife had just been released from hospital and needed to get back to Kefalonia, she took a taxi to Nidri, then a rib from IBR to Fiskardo, the service was fantastic, very helpfull and reasuring, bearing in mind my wife had just had eye surgery. In my opinion they provided a service second to none. I would always reccomend them.

Depends of what repairs you need. A friend needed hauling out for some repairs and due to time restrictions had to use the Marina. A very very expensive exercise!

If floating at all, I would have gone to Preveza (marine).

Well yes you could but owing to his close association with IBA its doubtful that you would get impartial advise.

However I am pleased to be able to recommend the IBA service, the engineers are polite and efficient, and all work is carried out in an efficient manner, the pricing also seems very fair.

If the problems are engine related Keith Fisher is a great mechanic a bit further north in Gouvia marina

Depends what the work is you need. There are a couple of German brothers who have done work for us in the Aktio yard, who are excellent. Engine, stainless steel etc. seem to be absolutely no problem. Think they also do fibre glass. The work we've had done by Stefan has been really good and also sensibly price. I'll dig out the contact details if you want them.

My husband and I have spent many years and many euros in and around Levkas on our yacht and I would recommend several depending on what type of repair you are want done as you do not specify.

If it was woodwork we would go to Neil McRobert, Yacht Services, if it was engine Simon at Sivota Yacht Servies, antifouling, paintwork, stripes, head lining Neil can do very proficiently.

Just a word in defence of Joe Charlton - he may be more expensive (and sometime a little awkward to deal with) but he will always do you a professional job and give you good after care - that was our experience anyway although I do accept others may have had a different experience.
