Rent a French Canals boat

I would like to rent/charter/hire a boat on the French Canals (preferably not the Midi) for a few weeks towards the end of year.

My partner loves the sea but has never been on the French canals and I do not want to put her off by hiring one of the pretty horrid boats that are self drive and very touristy, rather find a barge or steel boat that a private owner would hire it out for a few weeks.. Don't mind starting on the Saone

We both have mobo permits - Louise a French offshore one to 300 tons and I have a RYA one for both sea and canals and a cevni endorsement.. I have been up and down the canals a dozen or so times with various sail boats.

Any suggestions or help or offers gratefully received

Saskia is a rather modest 11m Dutch steel Vledt style cruiser based in St Jean de Losne. We will be going down the Rhone and cruising the Canal di Midi this summer, expecting to get back end-August/early September. She is quite comfortable for two - hot shower, fridge, washing machine etc. and easy to handle - though no bow-thruster! If you are interested let me know and perhaps we could work something out.

Long while ago now, but we had some very successful trips on Canal du Midi, River Saone, and Canal Lateral de Loire/Nivernais with Hoseasons

Just finished reading Narrow dog to Carcassonne.

Worth a read if you have not read it before. Very funny in places and full of the kind of literary allusions you might expect from someone who read English at Oxford.

But just a jolly good read.
