I have just spent two hours trying to get a nut off the prop shaft. I got the SS split pin out eventually but unfortunately a bit was left behind. This meant the nut could not be removed and eventually had to be cut off by hacksaw. My conclusion was always renew the split pins, too much bending causes metal fatigue. An engineer replaced the props and re-used the originals which had probably also been re-used.
