I bought a second hand spinnaker with another number on it than mine.
Any ideas on how to remove the number? Its a cloth/vinyl type number stuck on with some type of glue. Its possible (but difficult) to remove the numbers by peeling, but a very sticky residue is left. I don't want to use something that might damage the sailcloth.

I peeled and then used spray on sticky stuff remover... Then washed it all thoroughly. It worked fine. No probs since :)

Pull off the sail numbers first, useing a hair dryer to gently warm up the glue.

Then use acetone and a credit card to remove the glue. Go easy on the acetone and use gloves and don't breath it.

I've replaced quite a few sail numbers this way

Acetone not good for spinny nylon, perchloroethylene is best but not easily obtainable, use in well ventilated area.
Release the adhesive by putting solvent on the back of fabric and soak a while .Peel off number and then scrape any residue .Repeat rinse to clean off sticky .
