Removing soot from grp

The old donker has been put to work rather alot recently and now i am left with the black stain from the exhaust on the white grp, any ideas on best way to clean it off, it seems very hard to get off and makes for hard work...................

I use Ciff (Jiff or whatever) cream cleaner. Seems to do the business with soot.
