removing old coveline tape

In closed area - such as workshops - they use hot-air guns and old Irons ... the heat softens the adhesive and it lifts away. Use of gunk / acetone etc. removes the glue traces left behind.

What often happens is you leave not old tape behind but the coloured adhesive ... resembling old tape.

That is why many use an old Iron ... that wife has rejected after you got paint / ink on the sole !! It makes it all soft quickly and evenly - unlike the hot air gun ... if adhesive / colour stays behind ... tape back on and heat again. Or the old trick of newer tape placed over residue and warmed to have new tape remove the residue ...

If that fails - its' Gunk / Acetone or that green jelly like stuff you clean hands with before using water .... DEB hand cleaner - just remembered its name !!

These are good for removing the residue from stickers BIG INDUSTRIAL WIPES and fantastic to have on the boat for cleaning hands/cookers/engine bits/worktops/oil or diesel spills. Can't recommend them highly enough. available in builders/plumbers merchants.
Nothing to do with the company just highly pleased with the product.

....or Polycell paint brush cleaner. I've found it works really well on getting rid of the sticky residue.

My wife has a small bottle of 'Sticky Stuff Remover'. Often needed on the boat, and have used it successfully for this sort of thing.

No idea what is in it!

Watch out if you are using some brands of industrial wipes. Some are solvent based and will melt plastics. I would try them on a small area before use on hatches or other plastics. I know, I messed up the dash of a 4X4 with these once.
