I have an oil leak (I think it is the oil seal around the crank shaft). I need to seperate my engine from gearbox and sail drive. The engine is in a Jaguar 25. As anyone any advice howe to do this? Is it possible to do it in the boat?

I separated my 2001 engine from the 120S saildrive in order to replace the saildrive seal using the instructions that came with the seal and an excellent guide that was published in PBO. You can access the PBO guide on line here. This frees the saildrive from the engine. To extract the engine, you will need to remove any other connections such as fuel lines, throttle cables, electrical cables etc.

I completed this on my own in very cramped conditions but it wasn’t easy and the language turned rather blue! Trying to gain access to the back of the engine was the most difficult. I actually moved the engine forwards onto the cabin sole to give me better access to the saildrive seal area. I managed this using the mainsheet and mainsheet blocks, a stout fence post across the main hatch and various ropes around the engine.

If you are going to all this trouble, you may as well change the seal while you are at it. The official Volvo seal is very expensive but Keypart supply a much cheaper alternative. They also used to sell the official Volvo engine manual (again very expensive). You may need this to proceed further with the oil seals but because it is written for the professionals, I find it a little difficult to follow.
