Relay

Looking again, there is a thinner black wire at 1-o-clock and another at 7-oclock, that would account for it Nigel.

That's what I mentioned ... TBH - its working and I don't really want to get involved with it !!

The two banks have their own isolate switches ... but no emergency over-ride switch ... that would need to be 'jump leads' ... but TBH - I carry a Lithium Jump Pack ... its only a Yanmar 2GM20 ... so doesn't take much to spin it over ... it also has a handle start !

Thanks all who have contributed. To be clear, IF the relay was stuck open then the start and house would still be connected ?
No. If the relay is stuck open the batteries will be disconnected from each other.
If the relay is closed either bacause it is powered or the contacts have welded themeselves together or for any other reason then the batteries are connected together (paralleled).

I am ready to be corrected but in the unlikely event of the relay stuck 'CLOSED' then I would expect both banks to be connected.

If stuck OPEN - that is contacts inside are not made ... then no - the banks will not be connected.
