I don't often read the circular anchor squabbles. God knows why but today I had a quick read down.

I'm glad I did because tucked away in the middle is a post which, if true, utterly eclipses the original story.

I suspect most people ignore the anchor threads now so re-posted in it's own thread:

The facts , backed up by emails and other written informations, are that he instructed me to bribe certain officals at Rina and at another manufacturing facility with this cash amount in order to gain certification. Upon my return to NZ he praised me for a job well done and announced to the world that certification had been obtained.

Bambury then discovered while at the Sanctuary Cove boat show in 2010 that full certification had not been issued and in fact only drawing and seabed approval had been given.

I must confess to have been a bit disillusioned with YBW forums recently. Maybe (just maybe) we'll be in at the start of a massive story thanks to YBW.

I've no idea if the story is true, but if it is it's massive IMHO.

Big thanks to GK, YBW's answer to the Guido Fawkes Blog. :)

Just like every other thread about anchors, I can't bring myself to give a ****.

That's why I thought it needed a new thread. Apart from about 4 vocal forumites nobody's interested in Anchor squabbles and I doubt many read them even if they click on the link. In contrast RINA taking a bribe would have been big news in my view. I've not heard of "Rina" but my first impression from their web site was that I'd rather *expect* them to be taking bribes, so less of a story, maybe. :) (I could be wrong - for all I know they might be top dogs in the field in which case it's game on again!)

During the certification process there were many hurdles, endless meetings and discussions, rewriting of the papers and specs and resubmission of materials etc for testing.

This had already been going on for over a year before I first went to Shanghai with no progress and Bambury champing at the bit to release notification of full certification.

After just over a full year of visits and communication with Rina staff I was told to ask what it would take to conclude certain aspects of the certification that seemed to be stalling at one employees desk.

The answer in early 2010 was that $$$$$$$$$$ needed to be paid to individuals , not the organisation and those individuals would then stamp their part of the process and nobody would be the wiser.

This is what was done in March 2010 under very specific orders from Bambury.

It has already been reported back to me that those employees have already been removed and punished for their actions, just what that entails I would not like to think about.

I can understand your not being able to give a **** about anchor threads. There have been so many saying the same thing - claims about one anchor being better than another ad infinitum.

However, for those of us who have been 'sad' enough to look at this one it has become clear that this is NOT 'like every other thread about anchors'! The Rocna one is about the blatant unethical behaviour of a company - which happens to make anchors that once had a good reputation.
