Registration when living abroad

Does anyone know what happens to UK 'blue book yacht registration' when you move abroad pernanently?
Bambola is in New Zealand and I am blue water cruising as a British yacht. When we get back to Europe I will take up French residency. I will have a French address in La Rochelle and will become a non resident of the UK - I will still be a UK citizen.
So what happens to Bambola? Can I still fly the Red Ensign? Can I continue to register her as a british yacht?

Would be grateful for help.

Katoema was a German registered vessel, berthed permanenetly in France, but undertakes extensive blue water non-Med cruising. As a British subject you may continue to be registered through Cardiff, on the Part One Register.

We have had a lot of assistance with the MCA over this and, indeed, they will write to the French port authority, where you intend to keep her, to insure them that you are continuing to register her under the Red Ensign. Officially, as it has been put to us " you have the protection of the Royal Navy".

Incidently, the owner of Katoema has permanent French residency, within the environs of La Rochelle, with a Carte du Sejour, as a British subject and also lives in Jersey.

If you need direct contacts at the MCA please let us know.
