Refrigeration compressor change to BD35/50

Almost impossible to buy a 12V danfos powered fridge here in Borneo. The best solution is to buy a 240V powered fridge and replace the compressor with a Danfos BD35 or 50.

Have no details at the moment of the size of the fridge but will probably be in the 200 litre size of domestic fridge.

Can't use the 240V system due to the angle of operation in a cruising boat.

Any information would be appreciated as to the viability of a compressor swap.

The cost of replacing the compressor, re-charging the system, etc and trusting that the expansion device/orifice and/or coil sizes are matched seems problematic. Would it not be cheaper to simply buy a small inverter? Not sure what the inductive load is, but given the losses through an efficient inverter are low, you would not be using significantly more energy from the battery(ies)....

Ours packed up a few years ago and I had to replace the lot as the fittings were different and it was on "old" gas. As we were in the water and I wasn't willing to pay for lifts again (just launched - sods law) so went for Isotherm BD50F and large O ring. Draws up to 7 amps. 170L capacity box. Wish I had gone for keel cooler but cost + haulout costs was an issue at the time.
