I just installed a new firebox in a 71m Refleks diesel heater, seems much better than the old rusty one, no soot coming out of the chimney , but the flame looks very much pure yellow, should it be more blue? Any hints or tips?

any yellowish flame is a bit of a warning that unburnt fuel is present. It is also associated with high CO production.

the canal people have lots of discussion, here and elsewhere

Did you clean the air holes in the pot, and is the pot wall away from the outer chamber ?

Do you use the cleaning tablets ?

ta, came across that one from google.

Pot is brand new.

and is the pot wall away from the outer chamber ?
- no idea, very much seems like the thing can only go together one way.

OK, so I'd still be looking for restrictions to the air supply somewhere. Bit of a mystery with a new pot though. Did you have to squeeze it a bit to get it into place ? oh, and is the chimney completely clean, especially at any bends ?

Not sure how the air gets in, pot is a very tight squeeze to get in or out, chimney is straight & clear. I'll have a chat with the ditch crawlers.

Hmm, google mostly comes up with nice clean blue flames, pretty much exactly what doesn't happen with mine.. is yellow OK then? Not convinced just yet.

yes, you may be nearing the culprit, especially if the diesel had a proportion of biofuel in it.

Draw some fuel out of the tank or delivery pipe into a clean glass jar and let the fuel settle for a few hours. If there is any cloudiness, that is a source of contamination, and may be responsible for a less than clear flame.

The Refleks may be different but this is what the Sigmar manual says

It's been in regular use for 10 years now, always yellow and no problems.

I ve got a refleks 61m , about 12 years old lightly used and when its warmed up and runnning at temperature , i would say most of the flames are blue may be with slight yellow tips , when set to a very low setting there could be more in the way yellow tips . The red diesel in the heater tank must of been in there for at least 4 years i would say.

My Dickinsons diesel heater says a lemon yellow flame is correct as well. Used solidly for two winters now and the chimney is surprisingly clean, sooting only occurs when the flame is dying from want of fuel.

I have just had the same happen to my reflek,it should run blue flame.what i did was to clean the filter and check for deposits on the needle,,I inadvertantly let the tank run low so there could have been a bit of an air lock in the pipework from the remote tank,it is up and running perfect now.just on 80*f so not to bad .its so good I never bother with the eber

Bleed some diesel off, looks doesn't look cloudy after a sitting all day, not sure where to go next. Maybe try a thorough clean of the regulator. I'm also not sure the flue is long enough, it's about 1.5m and has a straight cap, not an "h", just above the deck. Seems to burn OK but I think it ain't right.
First bit of video is after it was running for a good few hours, some soot but not too bad. Second bit is turned up to about 3/4.

Does your cleaning pin look like this...

Mine seems to be just a threaded Tee, can't see how an o ring stays in there. Which is probably why it leaks a bit :(
