Reefing Lines Beneteau First 211

hi
i accidentaly undid the reefing lines on my first 211, and now they are hanging down from the boom..... how do i rig them back to the mainsail?

I assume you mean the outer end of the boom. They should run straght up through the cringle in the sail & then down to a bowline on the ring under the boom. It's a bit easier to understand if you put the sail up first!

Off the top of my head the 1st reef goes up the starboard side (or whatever side it comes out the boom) & down the port. 2nd reef goes up portside and down starboard.

If you loop the line round the boom and then tie a very small looped bowline as a running loop back round the reefing line itself, you will find you can get a tighter (and therefore better shaped mainsail) when you reef. Hope that my explanation makes sense!

Whether they go to port or starboard depends on where they exit the end of the boom. Just try to make sure they lead as fair as possible.
