I buy a copy every other year and make do with other tide tables in between. I think someone on here said that you can get a free copy of the following year's tide tables from Reeds but I can find no mention in the book. Anyone shed further light?

don't know, I buy the cruising almanac and a full copy every 3rd year........
freebies even better if anyone knows :)

I have a copy of "The Yachtsman's Manual of Tides: The Theory and Practice of Navigating Tidal Waters" which gives an excellent set of tidal atlases covering the channel with a huge amount of detail (lots of small chartlets for places like Solent, Portland Bill, Channel Islands. They are all referenced to HW Cherbourg which has the advantage that during the summer in UK waters (and Channel Islands) you do not have to adjust for time.
You can down load the tide tables for each year (I print them of and encapsulate them). I then buy a copy of Reeds every third year.

These are better than the Admiralty tide tables (which I haven't looked for some time). Certainly when I did use them if I was going from Solent to France I needed to use tables reference to Portsmouth, (for the Needles Channel) Dover (for the Channel Crossing) and Cherbourg or Jersey for the passage from the Race to the North Coast of France.

I seem to remember that the Cruising Association Almanac used to have a form enclosed that you sent off for a free copy of next years tide table, but after a few years of buying Reeds I bought a CA almanac again this year, now published by Imray, and no free next years tides.
