Red Petrol

Hi all,
Is there such a product as red petrol, ie tax free, or cheaper at least, for marine use? If so where can I get some?

No, as stated, there isn't in physical terms. But there has been a duty rebate scheme in operation for sometime now for commercial operators. Not entirely sure how it works but know that some sea schools operating RIBs have saved a lot of cash.

at least this is only slightly more expensive than red diesel but then you have to outweigh the cost of conversion etc..

Same also applies for outboard engined fishing boats, but again not sure what they claim back. To do this they must be licensed.

Correct. Think it's all handled via local excise offices perhaps? Certainly I believe the rebate is on the road duty element. VAT would be handled through VAT accounts anyway, if registered.
