That really is the crux of the question. IF the supplier orders the correct fuel. IF the refineries are producing it. Can anybody answer those questions.

But they could be pragmatic, at least it's not going on the road. Mind you, they used to test every fisherman's van when very few were diesel, now they'd have a job to keep up. Customs van appeared on the quay one day, five vans shot off very quick, one, owner at sea, was tested and removed so he got back to find it gone.

This has been going on for years and HMRC have done a superb job of stalling, fudging and generally sticking two fingers up to the EU, but is now over, lets move on and perhaps sail more ?

Does heating oil {28sec} damage/ work on diesels? Seems clear to me.

The tanker accidentally put heating oil in a FV, he said I'm insured for this, pump it out, or, as the fisherman offered, put, I think, paraffin with it. Can find no confirmation of this

A few dodgy Speedway riders I knew used Heating Oil.
They put a measured amount of cheap supermarket engine oil in to give it a touch more lubricity.
I asked if it was red, they said not.
Their old tranny vans kept rattling on OK. And they did not smell or smoke.
Well, not more than a knackered tranny anyway...........................

According to Wikipedia (interesting question, so I turned to Google): In the United Kingdom, two grades of heating oil are defined. BS 2869 Class C1 is the lightest grade used for lanterns, camping stoves, wick heaters, and mixed with gasoline in some vintage combustion engines as a substitute for tractor vaporising oil. BS 2869 Class C2 is a heavier distillate, which is used as domestic heating oil.
