Red Duster in Central London

I've also noticed a white ensign flown at St Anne's Church, Limehouse. What's the protocol for Churches doing this?
Are they flown or worn when on top of churches?

The Chamber of Shipping. It has been there for decades.

But won't be there much longer, as they have sold the building and are moving to somewhere cheaper, south of the river.

The Chamber was in St Mary Axe, next door to the Baltic Exchange, until the IRA blew it up - the Gherkin now stands on the site.

St. Anne's has special permission to fly the White Ensign, not sure why- maybe because of its prominence in the East End docks and being used as a land mark for shipping. Its clock I believe has a direct line of site link to Greenwich which controls its timing.

Simular to All Saints in Burnham Thorpe which is allowed to fly a white ensign. Due to the village being Nelsons birthplace.

If we manage to get rid of Scotland will the union jack have to change and all the ensigns?
Do we get chance to design something new (nothing with circles of stars on please).

I was told he reason once but have forgotten! I think you are right it is something to do with the Church being in line of sight of Grenwich for the noon time signal.
