In early July 07 I was pulled over in Flushing inner harbour, after the sea lock, by Custom Launch, cruising in the pool. After brief look at Boat registration, then Bill of sale (having shown I was British registered felt like telling them "What has my VAT status got to do with Dutch Authority, any discrepancy is a matter for British Customs), they move don to "What diesel I had in my tanks!. Red of course, but white in Jerry cans, here are my receipts from Shotley marina for its purchase. "It doesn't say its RED" says they. "Of course not says I, you can't buy red diesel in any British Marina, as RED diesel is legal in UK. Anyway he signed and dated the receipts and wished us Bon Voyage (in dutch of course. Would have been 4.64 Euros/ litre of tank capacity without the receipts. He seemed a bit surprised that an HR31 would have only 60 litre capacity, only E278.40 fine!. He did trap his finger in the starboard berth board whilst looking for duty frre from Ostend though, some justice in the world.
