We've decided to hang onto our folkboat for another year or two and have decided to treat her to a set of cruising sails. Anyone care to recommend a decent sail maker?

Might depend on your location but if you can travel to Lymington it's worth considering Peter Sanders based there . He always is well reported on this forum so maybe a search under his name and others mentioned might elicit additional valuable info.

Nicky Octon, NJO Sails at Shamrock Quay, Southampton.

Used to be the Doyle loft, and Nicky worked for Doyles for about 15 years before taking over the loft and setting up on her own.

You'll get top quality sails at a sensible price.

I would recommend Sean Semmens of Dart sails. Top quality sails with very good service and very reasonable prices.

Dick Batt in Bosham West Sussex, not had a sail from him personally but know friends who have and full of praise re quality, service and price.
