Long story short, but I've trashed my prop.
There appear to be a lot of companies offering repair, any recommendations?

+ 1.

My My...... you are having fun. :)
Was that you we saw going under Medway Bridge on Sunday ?

Thanks very much, I shall book that now :)

Yes, it probably was us, we were out Sunday. Lovely day for it too, before the storm moved in!

Guy in Chatham dockyard came highly recommended, much cheaper than steel d as no p+p involved, was told 40 quid is average price
Invicta Marine Ltd 01634 830689
On the flip side I did buy a new one from steel b and the hub and Ive managed to bend that at least twice so far!
Ive just straightened it again and its ready to be swapped with the fitted bent one when the weather gets better, but this one Im sure is bent much worse so will go to the guy in Chatham.

Thanks Lyall, I've ordered the repair from SD now but will try Chatham in the very unlikely (ha!) event of me needing another repair soon.
I've done more than bent it, bent it and broken bits off!
Hopefully the prop absorbed all the stresses and not the shiny new outdrive...

And when SD call you to say they can't fix it cos it's too trashed, but they can very generously sell you a new one at full RRP, call http://www.tnorrismarine.co.uk/ (just up the road from SD) and they'll actually fix the bent one for you.

Not connected, just disappointing experience from SD, subsequently resolved by Mr Norris.

£40 per hour would be cheap for a prop repair, let alone £40.00. It depends on what you are looking for and the size of props.I use Clements Marine not because of price, because they are actually expensive IMHO, but the quality is second to none. They give you a graph showing the pitch at each point on the prop and how perfect the prop is when they have worked on it. The cupping is maintained perfectly, but in fairness for 2 bronze props I have never received change from between £300 & £500 based on the damage (£65 per hour).

A friend of mine took a very bent prop to another company mentioned on here and they basically screwed it up, Clements bought it back from the dead (much like another story on here) as the company in question tried to straighten the blades rather than maintain the cup.

Obviously I cannot mention who it was.
