We are considering over wintering in Greece.

Do you good people have any recommendations for a good, secure marina with haul out facilities and a secure yard? Usual amenities and a good airport within a few hours drive.

The boat is a 38ft ( 11.88 in case the Greek tax thing affects us ) sloop.

Also, is Greece still a good option for over wintering? We left Europe a few years ago and it seemed as if the authorities were making it hard for cruisers to stay.

Many thanks.

You are spoiled for choice from some full service marinas to small family run yards doing things in the old ways. Probably the most popular area is the Ionian as there are many well established yards in Corfu and around Preveza and Levkas. These have the advantage of being fairly easy to access from the UK and have an infrastructure to support cruising boats. They do, however get booked up in advance so best to decide in the season where you want to lay up rather than wit to the last minute.

This really depend if you plain to stay on board over the winter and if you want company .
A lot of the small islands although can be reasonably price are die in the winter .
Had Tranona said Ionian is where a lot end up, and yes has he also said the yards around Preveza need to book early,
but berth in Corfu and Lafkea Marina are normally found.
For such a big country there only a very few places with a good liveaboard community.
