Hi any recommendations for a good East Coast Spray Hood manufacturer?
They'll need to make the steel frame as well...
Many thanks,
Crisp

The C&J sprayhood illustrated is for an all-glass Twister. If Captain Crisp's Twister is a composite one, ie with a timber coachroof, it might not suit.

Thanks, Poignard.
Yes - composite... quite loath to cover up all the wood around the companionway, but...
Do you have a hood?
Cheers,
CC

Mine is composite.

My sprayhood was made by TecSew, Gosport, in 1999 and it has lasted well.

Recently I enquired about having a new one made using the original as pattern and without them visiting the boat, which is abroad, but they weren't keen.

That is undestandable since to get a perfect fit they would want to re-measure.

There is a firm in Swansea offering to make new sprayhoods using the old one as a pattern and I have heard they do a good job.

However, I think you are safest having one made locally so that the maker can make the minimum two visits to your boat.

A couple of years ago I had my TecSew sprayhood windows renewed by Wilkinson Sails, Faversham and I was happy with their work. I have had other work done by them and been entirely happy with it. The proprietor, Cindy, is very helpful.

Had mine made by One Sails at Levington. They made the frame as well (or at least they sub. it to Mr Stainless (also at Levington).

I had the frame made out of 25mm stainless and it's bomb proof. The canvas work is perfect.

Just ensure they visit - I had a spary hood made for a Rival 32 on the south coast many years ago. The company made it from plans they already had, only to discover that, on attempting to fit it, that the later Rival 32s (their plans) were different to the earlier Rival 32s (my boat). All resolve amicably via production of the correct item.

Elite will take templates when they visit

And another for Mark Self Advantage Sails. He made ours, very customised, excellent price and delivery time. Go see his Facebook page. If you scroll down to October 2016 you will see us.
And another thumbs-up for Advantage Sails - made a super job of ours at a very good price.
