We have a microwave on the boat which we use a lot but it’s on the small side of full domestic size and takes up too much room on a 33’ boat. Does anyone know if there are microwaves designed for caravan or boat use with a very small footprint and can anyone recommend such an item? 240v is fine.

Had a small Daewoo one on the last boat, can't remember the exact model.

I use an upright or tower microwave....instead of the controls being on the side they are on top or bottom...making the oven taller but with a smaller footprint...tomorrow I will be on the boat and send a photo ...it’s a Whirlpool MAX38FW, I think

Microwaves are fine on yachts - if you use marinas and shore power a lot. If you are running off an invertor and battery bank you will soon use your stored power.

We will be antifouling in the next 4-6 weeks - the micro wave, electric kettle, toaster will be invaluable as we will live aboard and have shore power - the rest of the time - they just take up space.

But the best place to look - retailers specialising in caravans and mobile homes.

To me the microwave saves space...it replaces the kettle for making tea, and now I have just ordered two microwaveable hot water bottles...the wife also boils her milk for coffee in it (the coffee machine is irreplaceable) so that does away with the little electric milk frother jug...and it’s a microwave/grill combo so it replaces the toaster (although the toasting has not yet been tested)....so for me it’s a great space creator
