Recommend an Insurance Broker?

I've been with Navigators & General for the last 6 or 7 years. Their service is very personable, but I have never had to make a claim, so for me, they are untested in that department (anyone else claimed through them?). Their premiums are also good, but I have a Westerly and as a member of the WOA, get a small discount.

I have had a couple of quotes from GJW who are very competitive on the premiums and from what I have read on here, they have a very good reputation on paying out when it comes to making a claim.

We´ve been with Bishop Skinner for 10 years - discount for RYA members. One clian early on dealt with well. So we are happy with them.

Can anyone recommend an insurance broker?

There are so many to choose from it would be good to have a clue for where to start.

Thanks!

You don't have to use a broker who searches the market. Unless your requirements are out of the ordinary you can easily get on line quotes from at least half a dozen insurers. Just google Yacht Insurance and you will get plenty to try such as Bishop Skinner, GJW, HKJ, Towergate, Admiral, Saga etc. They all offer much the same so get quotes based on the same data then compare the terms (most of which are the same anyway) and then choose. In my experience - I do the exercise every couple of years, the majority come in with quotes +/- 10%. Very competitive business, insurance.

Insurance

Navigators & General through Colemans 01202647400. Paid up no problem when we had the rudders smashed up on the mooring, no fuss either because we are an old catamran, premiums seem to be about right too . Only extra is an administration fee of £25.00, don't know if this is common to all insurance now.

If you're looking for comprehensive insurance for the older boat without a survey, then Yachting 24 might well fit the bill. They're underwritten by Pantaenius who have a very good reputation, and another forumite wrote praising their claims handling. I have my 40 year old Vega insured fully comp. with them for just over £150...

Well it looks like GJW are pretty popular.

However, they've come in with a quote of £1600 for me, which is considerably more than these guys:

who've quoted me £1100.

Anyone got experience of yyachtinsurance? they seem pretty competitive on price and the policy wording looks OK too.

Thanks.
