Having had the boat for over a year we have been surviving using only one of the two gas burners on my cooker hob..
Need to sort he problem, which is that although the knob will push in it refuses to turn and allow any gas to flow. The cooker has had virtually no use during its life.
Any suggestions.
A new complete gas tap thingy is around £80.00 and then there is all the dismantling !

I had a similar problem on my hob (an Eno). It turned out that knob wasn't pushing the tap in quite far enough. I took the knob of, put a small spacer inside it and put the knob back on. This made it a little further out, so that it could push in a little more. Problem sorted.

I'm not sure that what I've written makes sense but I know what I mean!:o

Most of these taps are tapered plugs that eventually tighten up and sometimes leak.
Turn gas off, gain access to the tap and remove either 2 small screws holding the spindle in (watch you don't loose the spring or there is sometimes a grub screw in the side of the spindle instead that retains the spindle and also acts as a rotation stop, remove this without loosing it or the spring.
With a pair of pin nosed pliers carefully remove the tapered tap barrel, clean off the old grease but dont use anything abrasive on it and apply a very small amount of graphite grease (gas tap grease) take care not to over grease or you will block the small holes in the barrel.
re assemble in reverse order and test with leak detection fluid.
Regs state you must not use diluted washing up liquid for this :)

Thank you gentlemen...will procede accordingly :) and as is probably a bit of a dirty job will keep a bottle of washing up liquid handy for cleaning my hands afterwards, problem is the stuff seems to go everywhere !
