Really p'd off ... leg lifting mecahnism knackered again

The more I read this, the more I am determined never have a boat with outdrives again. Spent more on them than anything else on our Bayliner.
Was so nice to see the nice, simple drive on our new boat.

In the 2.5yrs of ownership ... I have :

1. Replaced drive / exhaust bellows and water pipe on the outdrive
2. Repaired tilt leg drive..... guy 3D printed one part and Electrical Workshop rewound one coil of motor.
3. Replaced exhaust bend at end of manifold.
4. Replaced Starter motor and solenoid.

I think given that more has been spent on the actual engine than the outdrive, also that the boat spends its life on a river and the upper reaches have shallow spots - the outdrive suits better - I may differ in my opinion ...

Somebody has invented a reliable and simple system to get the power from the engine to the propellor, requiring minimum maintaince
(ie expense) ? Surely , got to be a good thing ?
Do explain.... but you might want to keep your head down, there are those who may not want hear your message. :):):)

Sarcasm aside .. I understand the shaft vs outdrive argument .... but its not head in sand attitude from me ... its reality of use.

My boat channel has a shallow bar at entrance ... plus I venture far upriver where shallow areas prevail. I have my 25ft sailboat with 1m draft and shaft drive prop .. it can get a bit of a thumping getting into / out of channel.
My motorboat outdrive leg lifts if it hits anything when going fwd ... meaning the prop has an easier life ..

Anyway - I have what I have .. and need to fix the tilt mechanism.

Tried all sorts today to get that ba***** out ... but in the end called the guy who repaired it before ... he fitted it - and I think he Hermetited it back in ...

He's coming to swap it out and fit the replacement on Tuesday ....
