Real metal boat hooks

Broke the second flimsy plastic boat hook in as many years this season. Am fed up with the cheap rubbish the chandleries seem to sell.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a proper boat hook like they used to make? (Wooden pole but metal hook, properly affixed). Am quite happy to pay more for something that will last...

Not at home so no pic-

I've inherited a new looking galvo-ed mild steel boat hook on an 6' plus wooden pole, at least 2" thick. 4" straight spike and 3" 180 deg hook. You are welcome to it free, I never put it on a boat as I was worried what boaters would say when I approached them, Ahab-like!

Thanks for the replies. Have indeed Googled bronze boat hook but so far have found nothing in the UK which is available. Some brass stuff, of course. In the US, on the other hand, they have these - just what I'm looking for:

Force 4 do actually sell a wooden boathook with metal hook, as well as the nasty ally-tube-and-plastic ones. Possibly not the finest heritage-quality materials, but perfectly serviceable. I have one on Ariam. (I also have a telescopic ally one tucked away in the locker as a spare.)

Plus the stave plus some varnish. Plus postage. The boat hook is going to cost over £100 before you know it.

Might suggest you look up 'Window' accessories; my old schools used a Brass / Bronze 'boat hook' type pole attachment to lower ' raise the 'sash windows'.

No not a 'wind up' the Sash Window attachment did not have the spike on the end, just a couple of small hook ends

No need for the boat hook to float on its own; if its gone over the side the crew had still better be hanging onto it...

When you have finished the job your brother will drop it overboard - personal experience.
