Ready yet ?

HWMBO has done some trickery with the batteries in Chellers to arrange them in a more sensible fashion. He's currently next door soldering something which will be part of the battery system - I think it's an on/off engine switch or something helpful. There's still some more work to do on the batteries but it's going well so far.

New engine battery switch, ready for installing dedicated engine start battery...

James (Mr Chellers)

That's one that I don't think I'll be able to make but I'm sure we will catch up some time soon. My time at the moment is being taken up with sorting my tub out and dealing with family problems, hence this is the only forum I have time for right now. Last time I looked, even the lounge had over 700 un-read posts /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Not done a thing yet. Well, unless you count all the things I've been doing at home like new upholstery, outboard engine service, sand and re-varnish washboards, etc. But planning to work very hard in April with plans to launch early May - note to self - must book launch. Still looking for crew, so please contact me if you are interested so we can put dates in diaries ....

bernie can you get good quality foam at a reasonable price?i have cushion covers but i cant find good foam at a reasonable price, ive looked in the local market etc and the quility is not great,i need foam to fill 3 inch depth and about 6ft lenghts,my ladies want a softer seat than gel coat

Well derr. Of course I can get good quality foam. And I can cut it to size/shape! Whether or not it is 'at a reasonable price' or not is perhaps another matter. Trouble with foam is it comes in huge sheets so it costs a lot to transport. PM me with details and I'll PM you a price back. Foam for sitting on or foam for sleeping on? Inside or outside?

Two lovely days and plenty of aches later I am just about there

She looks pretty damn good Roger, that I have to admit. Long way behind you here, but not expecting mine to look as good as that no matter how much effort I put into her.

...and some more fixing up.

James (Mr Chellers) just rang me to say he's fixed the Eberspächer. This had worked fine all winter and then on Wednesday, when one of our sailing crew and myself were sitting up on the front of the boat lounging around and got unexpectedly drenched, we found it didn't work to warm us up again. Gah.

James is down at the boat getting it ready for the voyage to Brightlingsea tomorrow/Sunday and he decided to have a go at fixing it. And was successful. Mind you, he's an electronics wizard - he once fixed our washing machine with a spare part from a video player! He's hoping to get into marine electronics as a job as he's getting tired of his current work so is clearly getting some practice on Chellers. Let's hope that's the last thing to go wrong for a while though.

Rather amusingly, he'd made a comment (before we realised our Eberspächer wasn't working) that they always seem to go wrong but ours have been OK on both boats. Famous last words.
