Boats, especially older ones are never standard as they have been 'modified' over the years with wires run every where.
do yourself a wiring diagram, work out the cable diameters and approximate length of runs and bobs your uncle..assuming your are doing the work yourself.what i'd love to do is rip it all out and start again
Given the value of the boat, it will cost too much to pay a professional to rip everything out and start again.I would like to get auto electrician to do the work but don't know how much it will cost
This is a "how long is a piece of string" question. First you have to establish what you mean by a "rewire". Most old boats have rubbish electrics by today's standards often made worse by "improvements" over the years. Ripping out (carefully) and starting again is a good way of doing it, but it is enormously time consuming which is why it would not be economical to pay somebody. However it is feasible to do it yourself but you need to have a clear idea of what you want to achieve and some understanding of how to choose the right components and design the circuits.does anyone know how much it would cost to re-wire a colvic traveller 28ft ????
