I need some help please!

I am now able to upload photos from my photobucket album, which was a major achievement in itself.

However, the photos appear "full size" on the preview, and presumably to anyone viewing my post.

I have tried the re-size option on photobucket, but the photos still appear full size in the post. How do I re-size a photo so that it is a smaller size, say about half the full size?

I even tried to upload a thumbnail, which was successful, but when I opened it in the "preview post" I could see all the surrounding photobucket info in addition to the photo.

Baffled, Portugal

Michael.

on the l/h lower side of the photo is a panel with 4 options to copy
right click on the line IMG
this will copy the url to paste into the forum

If you mean that your photos appear wider than the forum screen allows, so that you have to scroll across to see it all, I find the easiest way is to change the size before loading into photobucket. I do this in Photoshop (elements) quite easily, and other image programs do the same. I click on "image" then "resize" and set it at about 800 pixels width and tick the "keep proportions" box. I have to remember to refile in a separate file I keep for the purpose in order not to lose the original. This always seems to be about right. And then sailorman's procedure from photobucket.

The normal procedure is to select the size you want the pictures to be when uploading them to Photobucket. Hit the words more options in the uploading panel in your album page to open the list, select the size you want, save it and then proceed with the uploading

It slows down the uploading procedure to convert a whacking great picture down to the smaller sizes but probably no longer than resizing them yourself before hand

(If you have a photo editing program such as Photoshop you can do it there first.
You can resize in MS Office Picture manager if you have MS Office ... but be warned there are pitfalls.
You can use an on line resizing program such as Resizr.com
But all in all easier to let P'bucket do it for you.)

If you have already uploaded pictures to a size larger than you require then you CAN resize them in P'bucket by using the resize tool in the edit function.
I can't say what you are doing wrong if it does not work ... read the help section on P'bucket.

Regarding thumbnails opening in a Photobucket window instead of a plain browser window ... I agreee that is a pain and it is something relatively new.
It is possible to edit the line of code so that it does not happen but it is against the terms of your P'bucket account... I'll leave you to figure it out. like I have done:

If you are using XP, download the image resizer Powertoy.
If you are using vista or win& download the image resizer 2 for window 7 (unofficial).

Then all you do is right click on the photo on your PC, hit resize, select your preferred size and then upload the resized image - much quicker than uploading a full size image as probably the photo websites don't support resizing 8Mp images etc.

You can also use this free program - Webresizer - on-line to re-size photos to the size for uploading to the web.

re sizing pictures

Thanks again folks - photobucket seems to throw up lots of variations - I am really struggling with it - see my mail on the Bavaria construction thread - I can post big pictures no problem - its the in between ones which are a problem.

Happy New Year,

Michael.

You are not setting the right size when you up load them to p'bucket. (click the the words "more options")

I have saved one of your pictures to my own computer (it's one I fancy anyway! ..and not one of you)

If have set the P'bucket upload option to 640 pixels x 480 pixels and then uploaded the picture from my computer to my P'bucket album.

I will now post it from my album into this post.

if it is bigger than 640x 480 then I apologize profusely , and will give up and got to bed until next year.

I am baffled by the difference between the clickable image and the one without the photobucket rubbish surrround!

Don't be baffled... Its just that when they changed to them appearing with all the rubbish I figured out how to avoid it by editing the code I paste into the post.
I believe altering the code is against the "T&C" though.
