I don't disagree with any of that.
But the OP is in Senegal, I've no idea what's available in the way of a facility capable of rewinding or repairing and alternator.
If the continuity of the winding is compromised, open circuit, then i might be tempted to open it up and see if I could find and fix the fault.
But buying a cheap portable generator might be a way of getting a temporary solution.
