I have Pro-Rainer TH5 (5 coats of hydrophilic polyurethane) Oilskins: the ticket describes them as as 'high tech Waterproof/Breathable/Windproof, unaffected by repeated washing'. They were never as windproof as older suits, and after only moderate use they now breath water inwards, in quantity.
The UK 'Partner' of the firm say they cannot be reproofed. PBO has an article on re-proofing 'breathables' but does not mention this type. Does anyone have experience of them? And of re-proofing? Or were they just a rubbish buy?

I am just about to try 'Storm' a reprooofing agent available from outdoor shops. It is claimed to reproof breathable walking/climbing jackets and costs about £8.00. Inevitably you need to wash the jacket using another special product approx £5.00 but it still seems worth a go.

Have always used the re proofing product sold by Millets/Blacks or any other camping shop. Seems to do the trick, although if the seam stitching is not good you may need to do that seperately with a rubber type sealant. I usually just wash in warm water, without detergent to remove any salt contamination, prior to hanging up in the garden or garage dependant on the weather, & let rip with the spray can.
