Re: Flares

Thank you so much Keith for publishing this on the site an for your understanding with the situation. I am incredibly relieved that this recall has been announced and would like to thank all the forum members who have sent me PM''s and been so helpful and understanding.

Re: Flares

I wonder if red handheld flares manufactured at the same time as the white ones recalled could also be defective. Is anyone asking the question of Pains Wessex?

Re: Flares

as they have stated in one of their press releases

"The company is also conducting an internal investigation into the incident and has acted immediately to suspend new shipments of the product and to recall other MK7 flares from the same production batches as the flare involved in this incident (Product Number 52651, Lot Number 2045 and 2046, expiry Date 12/08)."

I think you can reasonably assume they will be looking at all flares from those batches, no matter what colour, and also if there is any sort of manufacturing defect in any other batches. Companies tend to take this sort of thing rather seriously these days.

Re: Flares

Brendan
Has the company stated what should happen if you have any of the offending batch numbers?

I.e. How are they to be returned?

I would expect it would be via the chandler you purchased them from!!!

Peter.

Re: Flares

You should read the link really, all the information is there. There is nothing I can add, as I'm not in anyway associated

"The Pains Wessex White Collision Warning (MK 7) Hand Flare is sold on its own and are also contained as a part of the Collision Warn-Off Kit and the ORC RORC Distress Kit. Check if you have a flare with either Lot Number. If so, do not use it but return it immediately to the place of purchase where it will be replaced.

If you are unable to return to it to the place of purchase, take it to your nearest chandler, or telephone Pains Wessex 44(0)2392 623962 or e-mail recall@pwss.com"

Re: Flares

Keith, as you or YBW is talking to PW, would someone please request clarification.

I have 2 off this model white h/h + 3 off red h/h all PW.

They are not of this batch as they are close to expiry date now. Are they safe, have PW found a particular anomaly in this batch are all other batches free from this problem.

We are not talking about a power supply that might fail due to poor components.

I think the article created more questions than answers.
