Does anyone speak Nanni? I've replaced the standard alternator on my Nanni 3.100HE with a Balmar 60 and external regulator and this is now showing an inflated rev counter reading. The Balmar is a 12 pulse stator output. These are some instructions written in some terrible franglais. I'd be most grateful for some straightforward instructions from anyone who has done this or even a decent translation. (The first part is in French and then it goes downhill.)

Edit: Forcing myself to read it again, it looks like the instructions may be to input the pulse code for the standard alternators supplied by Nanni. If so, that isn't going to help me at all. Any other ways round that?

This looks like a fairly standards VDO taco.
There's lots of info ' on the web about then, but I had a problem finding the exact model used on my Yamaha 4JH4E.
I put quiet a lot of info' on the forum, but the post aren't that coherent, I was posting as I muddled my way through it.
Yanmar, Tacho, Hour meter replacement?
I have written the process up as a word document, which is hopefully more logical and coherent, if you want a copy, please PM with your email address and I'll send it to you.
But bearing mind that it's for 4 cylinder Yanmar diesel, but the method will be same.
In essence, you need to know the ratio of the diameters of the alternator pulley to the crank shaft pulley and the number of poles the alternator has. You then workout the magic number and program it into the taco. It's not difficult to do when you understand the procedure, but I could find an exact set of instructions for the Yammer branded VDO tacho I have.
PS. Just a thought, I'm assuming that the source of the tach signal is the alternator, because you mention the number of polls on the alternator, if it comes from a magnet pick-up on the flywheel then it's different.
