Raymond Wall RIP

Saddened to read in Yachting Monthly that Raymond Wall has crossed the bar, albeit at the fine old age of 91.

He designed some very pretty boats; the Nic 43 and Nic 55 are both right up there for me.

Condolences to Pauline and the family.
In the 1960s, when Ray was starting out as a designer, I worked for Pauline at the Cruising Association, then at Chiltern Court, Baker Street. We visited them at Fambridge, where if I remember rightly they acquired some land behind the sea wall and built themselves a timber house when they started their family. After they went to the South Coast and then to Canada I’m afraid we lost touch.
Ray’s designs were often flush-decked as is the case with the lovely Lutine shown in the photo.

As the custodian of a Ray Wall design I cannot speak highly enough of him as a designer.

Very pretty (definitely have the “look back factor) very nice manners under sail and really, really good structural and detail design.
