Can anyone tell me where I can get a new paddlewheel for the Airmar transducer with a Raymarine ST60 please? It's Airmar service kit 33-250. Google finds me no UK source.
I'm going to SIBs on Friday, any likely chandlers there?
Thanks.

Thanks, I did see that but when you dig into Airmar or transducers on their website it just seems to be electronic ones for fish finders etc no mention of logs.

The very first result for me was for JG Tech's website, with the 33-250 part number you asked for.

The first result was - still is - echomastermarine. That's the one I was referring to.
The JG one is second but I'll swear it wasn't there last night! (I hadn't had THAT much vino...) Before posting I had tried Googling exactly the same term as you used.
Strangely they list it at £3 more as Airmar than as Raymarine.
Anyway thank you for your help, much appreciated. I know where to go now if nothing at SIBS (JG aren't on the exhibitor list.)
Still haven't found any other source listing it.

Unless you need the complete kit, including valve assembly, the paddlewheel kit itself is Airmar part No 33-113-01: paddlewheel, spindle and 5 'O' rings. The Raymarine Part Number is R69015. Going rate for this is circa £29.00 Be interested to hear why you're fitting it - and if it solves your problem. My ST60 log (with Airmar 800 transducer) also packed up; I've just got the replacement kit but haven't fitted it yet.

Desperation.
The log - factory fit on a 2003 Jeanneau I've recently bought - underreads considerably (against GPS) despite thorough cleaning and raising the instrument calibration factor.
The Airmar sheet says the paddle wheel bearings wear out in 5 years and the paddlewheel should be replaced.
Must say I'm not convinced and now knowing it's £30 or so for a tichy plastic moulding I'm wondering what else to try.
Any ideas?

I guess we have different problems. My 6-year-old log stopped working completely and, like you I removed the transducer, cleaned it etc. When I flicked the paddlewheel it registered various speeds on the log, but when I replaced it and tried it at sea - again nothing.

I contacted Raymarine Customer Support <raymarine@custhelp.com> who replied; "Is the sensor sitting correctly? It is possible sometimes to fit a transducer and it not be in the correct position at the bottom causing it not to read. It is also possible that the Paddle wheel is failing and may not be producing a strong enough magnetic field for it to work in the water. I would also suggest changing the paddle wheel."

I knew there was nothing wrong with the sensor siting, so that's why I'm changing my paddlewheel.

You mention that your log under-reads vs the gps and no doubt you have taken into account that they are measuring different things anyway - speed through the water and speed over the ground? Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I suggest you contact Raymarine. I found them quick to respond.

Why not drill out the paddle wheel bush and fit a slightly large spindle?

Raymarine (above) are quoted as saying the paddle has a magnet in it, which I guess trips a sensor as it goes round. In which case, it isn't just a simple plastic moulding, so the price looks more sensible. Second, magnets can and do lose their strength with time, so it is not really surprising that they can need changing from time to time. However, I have no idea how old mine is - it was on Capricious when I bought her - but I've had no problems. It is more than 4 years old!

Has the paddle wheel been exposed to any source of heat? That might cause the magnet to lose strength; heating magnets kills them.
