Hi, I have a Raymarine ST2000+ autopilot which when powered up displays [ bearing correctly. However...

1) If I try to alter the course using the various + and - keys nothing happens and it displays 2000 on the screen.
2) If I switch it to auto mode it bleeps and (IIRC) goes back to standby. Also, in auto mode it can turn itself off eventually with a continuous beep (but I need to investigate this further)

Any ideas? It is a relatively new looking unit (good condition inside) but I have never had it working as it came with the boat and only just wired it up.

If no ideas does anyone know someone around Chichester or Hayling Island who could fix it?

Thanks

These are renowned for dying through water ingress, as Raymarine, one of the worlds largest marine electronics companies, deemed it acceptable to make a non-waterproof tiller pilot.

Some of the symptoms you describe, eg switching off or going into standby could be caused by a poor 12v +ve supply or bad earth connection. Have you checked these?

Worth contacting Raymarine if they can tell you more about that error code.. it might give you a lead to what the problem is, but as earlybird says if that doesn't come up with anything I'd start with the power connections and power source..
