Hi all, I need to remove a Raymarine rudder sensor and it looks like I should just pop off the threaded rod from the ball joint. When I try this I've pulled pretty hard and it didn't pop off. Can someone confirm my method or suggest another? The unit works fine so I don't want to do anything destructive, but I do need to replace it.

Extra bonus points if anyone can tell me whether the ball joint is the same size as the current B&G sensor. I'll be able to check when I do it, of course, but nice to know ahead of time how much work needs doing :D

Yes the ball joint just pops off (but yes, not trivially) and yes I shared your concern, but fortunately had an arm with my replacement sensor that I could confirm that with, ie I got to play with it where I could see it first rather than rummaging around under the cupboard where the unit attached to the quadrant resides . Can't help you with the B&G sensor as I replaced autohelm with raymarine

Thanks that'll at least get the old one removed without worry. I'm thinking I may lever it with a screwdriver to be a bit more controlled. Confirmation that it does come off is a huge help!
