Hi thanks for the offer but on the 240 it's plug one end and wired in to the hand set
Yes that is right - at the mike end you have to open the mike up and the cable is terminated with a pcb type plug/ socket which just plugs in then close the mike back up.
I will take a photo when I get home next week

Working speakers are very hard to find and nobody repairs them, I had the same arrangement as you, one inside and one on the flybridge. The easiest way by far is to fit a stand alone radio, I went for a Standard Horizon GX1400 GPSE, it has the benefit of a built in GPS, nmea output and cables for another speaker.
I just tapped into a 12v feed (I used the searchlight as I've never actually used it) and fit an aerial.

I would second the suggestion of replacing the radio.

As an alternative to NautiFox solution, i'd consider a Standard Horizon set at the lower helm, with a RAM mic upstairs.

I actually moved the working 240 speaker up onto the Flybridge so I had two working radios up there and can listen to various channels simultaneously.
I can hear the lower helm radio from the handset at low speeds ( which I would be doing if helming from there) backed up with a handheld radio.
Hi Paul what’s a ram mike
