Raymarine Quantum radar - using WiFi and RayView

My boat is coming with the es75 plotter and Quantum radar. The installer said the wifi has worked well on his previous installs but as a precaution is running a cable to the foot of the mast and then if we have any wifi issues we can complete the connection to the plotter in the cockpit.

Personnaly if going to the trouble of taking the cable up the mast I'd get the system 'hard' wired back to the plotter at the same time

It's a new commission so assume it's a quick(ish) job to run the cable down the mast before stepping it.

A brief update on this one.........

Thanks all for your information. Based on this I went ahead and purchased the Quantum WiFi radar.

Not yet fully installed on the mast, but from initial deck level test install I can confirm in practice that:
- the WiFi version does indeed come with a RayNet connector, in case needed later (just not the cable)
- the install was quick and simple in my case - update plotter software to Lighthouse v17.46, connect powerlead and pair the WiFi
- the radar view can be replicated to a mobile device via the WiFi to RayControl/RayView
Not yet used for real but thanks again for the info which helped confirm the suitability pre-purchase
