Been offered a Raymarine A70 which has 'European Navionics Charts preloaded'

Anyone know what this set of charts is like? It will be out of date as the plotter is over ten years old, but the overlay screen (which is the only shot available) seems to show everything from North Cape to the Canaries.

Looks like this would be ideal for the proposed trip to the Canaries, easily interfaced with AIS as well.

I've got a Raymarine A70D on my boat, which is connected to a Comar AIS receiver, and it works very well. I use a Navionics CF card for my charts, so can't comment on your query regarding the preloaded charts.

Also had an A70 with Navionics Gold European. The plotter is wonderful and as stated will i/f AIS on to the chart. If you've been "offered" it at a decent price there are plenty of second hand Navionics charts on ebay - or buy new.

As already mentioned, almost certainly the Silver charts which are usable but lacking fine detail. The kicker is that they cannot be updated. You can, of course, shell out on a chart card at a later date

Otherwise, it's a good bit of kit albeit a bit old tech now
