Looks like the end of the road for Raymarine investors, although I am sure the company/or products will survive. Seems sensible of fairline to move to Garmin now!

What ever happened to management running companies for the benefit of their shareholders? Big fancy offices, no new deals and then they slowly slip away. I hope all the staff are Ok.

I am not sure if Garmin will buy now. They may wait until raymarine goes bust and go after some of the assets. What does Garmin need from Raymarine apart from the Brand??? It seems to have all the products covered.

I would have though there's a decent business there once the debt burden has been reduced/eliminated. The new boat market may take a long time to come back but there should still be plenty of opportunities in upgrading existing boat electronics.

I think they need to make their products more affordable to existing owners. Perhaps a spin off product range or is that heading too close to Garmin?

That's a bit harsh. I wonder how many of their shareholders were telling them to slow down on growth, and pay off debt as top priority, before the recession?

Raymarine is market leader and strong brand, so it seems to me to be an ideal opprotunity for a road only sat nav brand to buy them. They will have access to much cheaper internal gubbins to feed into the Raymarine marine products, much the same way as Garmin do.

I was along at the Raymarine offices in Portsmouth on Thursday, and it did still seem to be business as usual, albeit with an empty floor or two in the building, and plenty of space in the car park. Anyway, they can't go under yet - they've got my radio!!
