Raymarine E120 or C120?

I would like Father Christmas to bring me a Raymarine E120 this year. On checking prices I notice a significant price difference between the C120 and E120 but I can't identify any major differences in spec. Does anyone know what the differences are?

I want to fit the AIS250 and the 125 GPS (which I already have) and at a later date, possibly around March 7th which just happens to be my birthday, I'd like to fit a radar radome to provide full radar capability. Can both the E120 and C120 fulfill those requirements?

If Father Christmas can save a few hundred quid buying the cheaper of the two models, it might mean a few quid left which he can use to spend on buying a pair of slippers or some other exotic present for my wife.

I think I've discovered the answer to my own question - the E120 enables networking of multiple screens whereas the C120 only has single screen capability. Both models are otherwise identical and allow multiple windows (up to 3) to be displayed.

The E120 is networkable,and has a brighter screen. Both can have a radar.

If you are looking to have a second screen in the future buy a E120, if not the C120 is fine.

Alternativley you could look at the new C120W (widescreen) which is the new model. Its also able to have a radar, and can network to one other screen.

All of the above plotters are excellent and of good quality.

Personally i'd have a Garmin though

Looked into all this last week and ended up ordering 2 x c120 wide screens and I have to say they are very good. I have them networked, with auto pilot connected and a camera for docking. Great bit of kit

Thanks for these comments, the additional functionality of the E120 would make it far too prone to abuse by my 7 year old grandson, I can just imagine the display being hijacked to watch a DVD at a crucial moment. I'll go for the C120 I think!

hang on - do check the re-draw rate - a few years ago I looked at the C70 & C80 - the chart re-draw rate was way too slow for my liking ...

E120

The E120 has VGA out. Combine this with the remote control gives a fully functional repeater at the chart table using a pc screen.
