It is. What about black? If that's the 3 pin connector (looks like it is) :
Brown - positive
Blue - negative
Yellow - sea talk data
You can't connect 4 wires to a 3 terminal connectorIt is. What about black?
Suppose I have to.You can't connect 4 wires to a 3 terminal connector
It's not used. As a double check, check for continuity between the three terminal and the brown/blue/yellow wires with a multimeter.
You only need 2 for power, the 3rd (yellow) is a data wire. Not at all unusual to have spare wires, or in some cases spare terminals in the connectors.Suppose I have to.
Still confused why there are 4 cables if you can only use 3 then. And only need 2.
Seatalk uses the negative.Even the data wire needs a return path. It can be the Blue / Neg wire or possibly the Black which is probably wired to the Blue at the plug. They probably give you four wires at the tail because the Seatalk and Power sources are not necessarily in the same place.
Thanks for conformation, so the Black could well be the Seatalk negative.Seatalk uses the negative.
That's not what i said. Every Seatalk device has three wire, positive, negative an data (yellow). If you have multiple devices you could simply connect all of the positives together, along with a 12v positive, same for all of the negatives and connect all of the data wires together. No need to run an additional negative. Thanks for conformation, so the Black could well be the Seatalk negative.
