I have a below deck ev-100 autopilot that has started to make a strange clicking sound. It still works fine, but a sudden movement to port and it gives a sound like a click. I can find plenty of manuals for installation but none for maintenance. Is there anything you need to do for maintenance? I've had it for around 5 years and done nothing. Is it a DIY fix or is it better to get an "expert"?

Thanks

I would watch it from down below when making that sound to make sure it is the autohelm not some part of the steering gear. If it’s not obvious then unbolting it from the quadrant and moving first the steering manually then the ram lever manually when I’m standby should pin it down.
