Hello all, I have a Raymarine SmartPilot X-5 with the ST6002 controller. I recently had a trip where the controller came up with the "NO COMP" error. I've had this once before, and a reboot fixed it. Not this time. I tried to reboot a few times to no avail.
Once back in the marina I checked the computer/brain box to see if there were any broken connections. but all was well. Then I checked for voltage, and it was showing 18vDC on the input. Very odd. I checked the connection coming from the boat's main switch panel, and this was the expected 12vDC.
I found a diagnostic check for the flux compass on line (the COMPass in NO COMP!) So I disconnected the wire running to the compass and checked for the required resistance across the wires, but could get no resistance reading on my multi meter. This is likely to be human error as my multi meter skills are weak. Anyway. I re-connected the compass to the computer, and checked again. Everything worked. No error on the controller, and 12vDC on the input to the brain.
I'll check it before leaving the marina next time. I'd be interested to know if anyone has any similar experience?
