Has anyone fitted the above camera or had experience of using one. I am upgrading my electronics suite and the boatyard suggested I consider it, so any info gratefully received.

Had one fitted this time last year as we were upgrading all of our kit and it made sense given the additional cost compared to the overall cost of the upgrade. Not had time to use it much as boat is in Spain! ?

Excellent piece of kit though - good image and the AR application is very good - not sure we'll get the most out of it in Spain - relatively easy cruising, deep water etc. - but if we were back on the South Coast or in The Solent I would have thought it would be really useful ...crossing the channel and TSS zone too.

It's good fun - what we've seen of it so far. It's also great for when "Techies" try and tell you about AR and we can say we already have a real life example of it installed on our boat - just gives me a strange sense of satisfaction ... but maybe that's just me! ?

Thank you for your informative answer and you have made my mind up for me, in terms of the upgrade I am having they look quite reasonably priced, thank you again.

Techie here! This was my specialist subject before I retired, I specified CCTV systems for homes and all the way up to multi million pound systems for government bodies.
Just what I hate, camera specs that actually don't tell you anything.
From the CAM220 IP Marine Camera: CAM220 IP Marine Camera | Marine Electronics by Raymarine

Lens3.6mm Wide angle Megapixel Board Lens
Field of ViewHorizontal = 93.0 deg +/- 3 deg
Vertical = 51.0 deg +/- 3 deg

The Sony Exmor chip is a good chip but the above specs don't really tell you how good it works in this particular product.

I have quite a few different video cameras that could use the 0Lux with IR on and colour during the day and they all vary greatly how they handle images at low light levels. In the security industry we always had to quote the specifications on how much light (Lux) and what aperture of lens used (f - stop) to give a fully saturated image.

My old Sony TCR camcorder from 2001 has a much better low light and IR image sensitivity than my 11 year newer Sony camcorder, both use CMOS sensors as well, but I have others that can still have colour images on screen when I can't see anything with my own eyes and blow these two cameras away.

My ancient JVC TKC 1360E camera is colour/mono, can be switched manual or auto between colour/mono-IR sensitive, uses a 1/2" Sony Exview CCD, shutter speed is 1sec to 1/100,000sec has a built in frame store for capturing stills from video, video motion detection and can raise an alarm output from a change in video, I was beta testing that particular camera in 1998, technology has moved on and lots of improvements have been made - except in the marketing dept. where they still try to pull the wool over your eyes. ;)

And breathe :D
Looking at the rest of the specs it looks quite good and should give you about 90 hours of recording on a 128GB SD card independent of what else you use. I look forward to seeing how it works with your installation please share some day and night imagery, professional interest here :)
